Abdulkadir Molla was charged with crimes against humanity allegedly committed during Bangladesh's independence war with Pakistan in 1971.

Last February, the court sentenced Molla to life in prison.

However, both the prosecution and lawyers of Molla objected to the decision of the court.

The appeal court sentenced Molla to death.

The previous decision of the court had led to country-wide mass protests.

Abdulkadir Molla and his political supporters believe the case against him is politically motivated.
